Terms of use

Last updated 30 August 2026

The short version: the scanner is free, Pro is a one-time purchase with a 14-day refund, everything runs on your machine, and nothing here is legal advice.

The service

StillReadable scans documents in your browser for recoverable content and, with Pro, produces cleaned copies. Files are processed on your device and are never uploaded; how little the server sees is described in the privacy policy.

Your license

Pro is licensed per person: one purchase, one human, any number of that human’s devices. Keep your license key private — anyone holding it can use it. Buying for a team means one purchase per person.

Refunds

14 days from purchase, no questions. Email hello@stillreadable.com from the address you paid with, and the payment is returned through Stripe.

No warranty, and not legal advice

StillReadable finds what is still recoverable; it is not legal advice, not a compliance guarantee, and not a substitute for professional review of a sensitive release. The service is provided as-is: we do not warrant that every scan finds everything, and you remain responsible for what you publish. If something goes wrong anyway, our liability is limited to the amount you paid us.

Fair dealing

Use StillReadable on files you are entitled to inspect. Adobe, Acrobat, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint are their owners’ trademarks, used here only to name the file formats this tool reads; no affiliation or endorsement is implied.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA. If a court finds part of them unenforceable, the rest still stands.

Changes

If these terms change, this page and the date at the top change with them. Questions to hello@stillreadable.com.
